Overview

This tool provides access to the NEWS Water Balance Model data set.

GCM

General Circulation Models represent physical processes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere, and land surface. GCMs use a three dimensional grid over the globe at a coarse resolution. Smaller scale physical processes are averaged over the larger GCM scale.

RCP

Representative Concentration Pathways are time series scenarios tracking the trajectories of green house gases, aerosols, land use, and land coverage.

Discharge

“River Flow”. Simulated daily river flow (m3/day).

Water Temperature

Simulated daily river temperature (degrees Celsius).

Air Temperature

Air temperature (degrees Celsius) from ISIMIP. Data was scaled from 0.5 degree spatial resolution to 0.05 using the nearest neighbor method, and was further adjusted using a lapse rate 190 (6.49°C/km) and 3’ (L/L) elevation data to better account for air temperature differences across mountainous regions.

Wet Bulb Temperature

Calculated based on air temperature and humidity levels (degrees Celsius).
